A blast from the past

Given the pixelated nature of the Mario games, we decided that it would be very easy to do something like today's project. We both used to make these little plastic figures. You know...the ones where you put the plastic beads on a peg board and then iron them so that they melt together. We figured that they would make a good mobile or something, so we got a giant bucket of the beads, printed out inspiration pictures, and set to work. I think they turned out awesome. What do you think?

Working on the green.

Working on the red.

Hubby made the green and I made the red. He got a little iron happy.

The moon!

An assortment of the figures we made. Now to figure out how to use them.

Italian Plumbers Beware

I decided to forge ahead and finish the plant today.  Maybe it doesn't seem like much, but I am going to be having a baby in less than two months. Yikes! I better enlist all the help I can get.

As you can see, the cats are hard at work...supervising?

Outlining...this is one of the most frustrating things for a perfectionist.

Little Mario's closet.

Oh look! Luna cat has decided to wake up and help now.

The final product! What do you think? I love it!

Piranah Plant

Today, I started on the Piranah plant. Loving it much more than the original toadstool.

Wow...it's almost as tall as me.

Mural day 8

What a beautiful, crisp day. A view out of our window this morning.

We decided what to do on this wall. We are going to paint over the toadstool segment. In its place, a yellow pipe and a piranha plant will grace the wall. Below is a good start to the yellow pipe.

We are also putting a Yoshi Berry on the bush.

Here is the finished pipe.

And the finished berry.

Ice Levels

First, a bump picture. 32 weeks. Only 8 to go!

So, we had a crazy ice storm. It's like one of the ice worlds from Mario out there. Everything is covered in a beautiful layer of ice. It's also slicker than snot, and if you get going to fast, you're likely to fall.  Below are a couple of shots I (VERY carefully) captured in the yard.

Our original plan was to put a toadstool ledge (a la Super Mario 1) on the two walls of this corner. We got as far as you see it below. The whole thing is outlined in pencil, which you can't see very well in the picture. But once we started to paint it in, we both decided that we didn't like it. So we decided to scrap it. But not before we took a picture.

Then it was time for a quick snack. Mmm...brownie sundaes. I brought out the Valentines day sprinkles a bit early.

A view of the other side of the room. I put a cloud up, but haven't finished the eyes.  You can also see the crib. It is filling up with goodies from our fantastic friends.

1st baby shower

Today, I had my first baby shower. It was Super Mario themed, thrown by my best friend, at one of my favorite places in Dayton, and SO much fun! So I just wanted to share a few pictures with you.

I snapped this picture this morning, before heading to the shower. This is the fabric that we picked out (more like SCOURED the internet for) for the curtains. I pinned it up just to show my friends.

The shower was held at Dorothy Lane Market. I've spent a lot of time here, crocheting, visiting friends, people watching, etc. I'm so glad I was able to add this to my list of reasons to love this place.

Yum!

This is one of my favorite pictures from my pregnancy. Even though you can't really see my belly, I think you can see the excitement I'm feeling.

Garrett was SOOO excited to start his "daddy duties." He couldn't wait to put together the bouncer. (Shh...no one tell him that it will be at least August or September before baby boy will be able to use it!)

Success!

The Hills Have Eyes

Everything is coming along so nicely. I am so glad that we decided to go with this theme. And glad that Garrett took some of his vacation time so we could put a good deal of work in on it.

Garrett marked out the hills on the wall. Glad I married an engineer. (Hehe!)

The first hill has the first coat of paint.

Working on the 3rd hill.

The 3 hills are painted and the tallest hill has eyes. Still have to finish the border and other pairs of eyes.

Hermione is supervising me.

3 completed hills.  Interesting fact. The tallest hill is Garrett's height. And the next tallest hill is my height.

I'm 28 weeks today. Time for a "bump" picture.

Another picture of Hermione.

A finished green pipe by the door.

A finished light switch star.  I am thrilled with how this turned out.
